Today I went to a quilt shop near me for some auriful threads. Here’s what I ended up bringing home.
There’s so many neat things in a quilt shop, I’m surprised this is all I bought! On the bottom is a pack of about 40 ten inch white Kona cotton squares. I’m inspired, but not sure with what exactly! so may possibilities. Right now I’m thinking I may machine quilt some of my favorite expressions on them, one per square. Then perhaps dye or paint them, or even ovesrprint on them. I’ll have to think more about it before I begin. When I got home, I did open the Machi squares, 42 five inch squares, shibori indigo dyed. They are gorgeous! A quick layout on my design wall and I know I’m going to sew them together then quilt over them, and hang the piece over a window on my back door. The sun will shine in through them in the summer months and it should be wonderful. It’s a simple project, but the pieces are each so beautiful already. Here’s the sample layout on my design wall.
I’m also working on weaving new patterns in this cotton piece on my rigid heddle loom. I’m learning new pick-up patterns, and creating different designs. Here’s my piece with some of my practice.
Finally, a trip to the post office led me to buy these wonderful John Lennon stamps. I bought two sets, so I could show both the front and back one I frame them.
I clearly have been enjoying myself. What have you been up to? Post something in the comments and let me know.
