The nine patch quilt block is arguably the most recognized quilt pattern, resembling a checkerboard. This art quilt was made in 2009 to put a modern spin on a traditional quilt block. It began with nine patch blocks, which I overlaid with organza shapes and additional yellow fabric X shapes to create this new look for an old pattern in this art quilt. I added lots of straight line stitching in different directions to complete this piece.
