It’s August already and I am beginning to think about summer waning. I clearly recall taking a walk in April and thinking I had this huge stretch of good weather days ahead, but now it is half gone! I know where the time went, but now I’m looking at going downhill back to the cold months here in Indiana. We are past the halfway point. School starts here in a few weeks, and that creates a whole new mindset. I hope I can take advantage of the remaining good weather and not let the pending winter cloud my days. Here are some things I can share today.
This mirror hanging in the foyer is perfect for a reflection of my front door. I seem to take this photo every year, on a day I walk by and notice the reflection.
After a 6 AM walk just the other day I noticed the light highlighting this area in the shade garden, but it wasn’t till I saw the photo that I noticed the shadow from the tree trunk filling the space too. It proves that we never really see all that is there.
Last post I was weaving this piece, and now I’ve finished it and have a series of photos about the finishing process. Here’s the piece off the loom with a pile of bits I trimmed off and other loom waste. I was preparing the woven piece to wash in the sink with a mild detergent.
After I soaked it for about 20 minutes, I squeezed it gently and laid it on an old towel to roll up and squeeze out the excess water. It is 100% wool so tepid or cold water is used, don’t want to created a shrinking experience. Then below, you’ll see it drying on table outside. It’s 14 by 70 inches, and will make a great shawl or table runner. Or just hanging about showing off how colorful it is. I love it!
Now I’m without something on the loom, but I have plans to remedy that soon! Hope you’re having the sort of days you enjoy! If you’re on facebook, you can check out my page, Quilt and Fiber Art by Christine Predd, while you are browsing.
